Laura graduated from Leeds University with a BSc (Hons) in Physiology. She joined the Genetics department in 2005 and was initially involved in a study that analysed the transgenerational effects of low dose radiation in radiation workers and their families.

Laura’s research interests are the effects of human exposure to high LET radiation such as plutonium. She is currently working on a project funded by the Department of Health and is investigating chromosome damage caused by in vitro and in vivo by exposure to plutonium, using the mFISH technique.
