Health Impact Assessment for SITA - Development of former Keekle Head Opencast site
WSC recently completed a successful Health Impact Assessment (HIA) for SITA regarding their proposed development of the former Keekle Head opencast site into a new purpose built disposal facility for Low Level and Very Low Level radioactive waste from nuclear decommissioning.
We attended several public meetings, produced questionnaires and organised a stakeholder workshop to inform the scope of the HIA and provide an opportunity for interested members of the public and key informants to discuss their view on potential health impacts. Our involvement culminated in the production of a comprehensive HIA report to accompany the planning application for the proposed Keekle Head Waste Management Centre.
