Westlakes Scientific Consulting provides technical support for emergency procedures to the nuclear industry
This includes:
- technical training for emergency assessors in emergency countermeasures
- technical training for emergency assessors indose assessments
- supply of simulated technical information relating to accidental aerial releases for use in emergency exercises
Methodology:
• WSC have developed a bespoke software system (EAS) for modelling accidental aerial releases from Sellafield;
• WSC are responsible for providing training to Sellafield staff in the correct use of the modelling package; and,
• WSC develop suitable exercise training packages for use in accidental aerial release emergency exercises.
• WSC train suitable qualified personnel to be part of the Sellafield Emergency Assessment duty team
In addition WSC staff have developed:
• a bespoke emergency response model for the Sellafield site; and,
• a technique to provide simulated air and ground monitoring data for use within emergency exercises.
